Helping an up-and-coming battery technology startup promote their new technology and sell their products.
Sodion Energy is a startup that designs and manufactures a new form of battery technology, namely sodium-ion batteries. These batteries are more environmentally friendly than traditional lithium-ion batteries in terms of production methods.
But as a new form of battery technology, people are relatively hesitant to switch to it. Sodion Energy needed a few things in order to sell their batteries. They needed a good brand identity, a unique logo, and a website to generate interest.
In order to create a brand identity for Sodion Energy, I sat down with the stakeholders of the company to find out more about what their company stood for.
For starters, the company wanted to project the image of safety and stability. Despite being a new form of technology, the company wanted to show that sodium-ion batteries are actually safe and suitable for use in many everyday applications. Secondly, they wanted to highlight that the production of sodium-ion batteries is actually more environmentally friendly compared to lithium-ion batteries.
With safety and stability in mind, two key colors were chosen: pigment green and prussian blue. The pigment green serves as the company’s primary brand color. The green evokes eco-friendliness, growth, and vibrancy. The prussian blue, on the other hand, evokes feelings of stability and security, so as to highlight the safe nature of these batteries.

When it came to the logo mark, we had to emphasize the ideas of safety and stability as well. The final logo mark has a strong “S”-shaped silhouette, while the boldness of the mark and sharp edges give an image of stability and firmness.
In order to market their batteries, Sodion Energy needed a landing page as well. The landing page is split into six key sections. An eye-catching hero section, a description of the company’s mission, key reasons for using sodium-ion batteries, applications of sodium-ion batteries, a call-to-action (CTA) section for potential partners, and another CTA for potential clients.
